Retail Hybrid Exit
A private data-center lease expired in eight months with forty store systems still on it. We sequenced the estate by blast radius, moved identity and POS first, and decommissioned the last rack two weeks early — during holiday freeze.

Identity and point-of-sale moved first with the longest bake time; the riskiest systems got the calmest windows, not the leftover ones.

Bridge, don't leap
ExpressRoute carried the hybrid months with inspected, metered traffic — every store worked identically on either side of the move.

Decommission as a ceremony
Snapshot, export, verify the export, then terminate. The last rack left two weeks before the lease ended, mid-holiday-freeze.
Migrations fail on sequencing, not technology. Move the scary parts first, while the calendar is still kind.
